My journey into early education

With over 9 years of teaching experience across both the early childhood and primary sectors, I bring a deep understanding of child development, learning pathways, and responsive, relationship‑based teaching. This diverse background — combined with my passion for calm, meaningful, hands‑on learning — inspired me to create Little Homestead Learners.

I wanted to build a place where each child can truly flourish: a home‑based environment that feels safe, familiar, and connected, with small ratios, nature‑rich experiences, and teaching that honors every child’s individuality. Little Homestead Learners is the heart‑work that grew from this vision — a space where tamariki can explore confidently, learn joyfully, and grow into themselves with muddy hands, bright eyes, and full hearts.

My qualifications and expertise

I am a qualified and fully registered teacher, supported by a wide range of professional certifications that strengthen the learning experiences I offer:

  • Level 1 Certificate in Te Reo Māori

  • Current First Aid Certification

  • Incredible Years Teacher Programme Certificate

  • Incredible Years Autism Programme Certificate

  • Level 2 Certificate in Business Management

  • Level 4 Certificate in Coaching & Exercise Development

This blend of training means I can support tamariki with rich, hands‑on learning — from physical development and wellbeing, to language, culture, creativity, and practical life skills. My Incredible Years training also supports strong behaviour guidance, emotional regulation, and nurturing positive relationships.

I’m passionate about creating a calm, nurturing environment where children feel safe, confident, and excited to explore. Teaching is not just my career — it’s my heart work, and I’m committed to offering a home‑based learning space where tamariki can thrive.
